The Zimbabwe sevens rugby team stormed into the semi-finals of the Hong Kong Sevens qualifiers on Saturday following a 21-14 quarter-final victory over Brazil.

The Cheetahs who ended second in Pool G after losing 10-nil to Spain met Brazil in the quarter-finals.

The Cheetahs were quicker off the blocks with Tafadzwa Chitokwindo once again capitalising on his pace before releasing Hilton Mudariki who grabbed Zimbabwe's first try of the match.

Mudariki was once again alert, latching onto a loose ball before powering home for Zimbabwe's second try.

A handling error would put Brazil back into the contest early in the second half.

Cheetahs star player Chitokwindo extended Zimbabwe's lead after exhibiting some brilliant footwork before racing away to the try line.

Brazil pulled a try back right at the death but it was a little too late for the South Americans.

Having registered a 21-14 victory Zimbabwe now face Spain in what promises to be an exciting semi-final on Sunday.

After crashing to a 10-nil defeat to Spain in their final Pool G encounter Saturday morning, Zimbabwe will be out for revenge when they meet the Spaniards on Sunday.

Victory over Spain would place Zimbabwe on the brink of becoming a core member on the International Rugby Board sevens circuit.
