Man charged for lashing cousin to death

A man who recently made news headlines for lashing his young cousin to death has been charged with manslaughter.

The Voice reported that Kabo Tladi, 30, was on Tuesday arraigned before Magistrate Kefilwe Resheng in Mochudi Magistrate court for allegedly killing his 11- year old cousin and unlawfully wounding his 8- year old niece by severe beating.

He had punished the boy and the girl aged 8, for having sex. The two kids were both in standard three at Khurutse primary school in Artesia.

The charge sheet states that on the day of the tragic incident Tladi caught the two minors red-handed having sex and heavily disciplined them with a Mogwana tree branch. The boy's lifeless body was later found on his bed by shocked relatives while the niece was found reeling in pain and rushed to Deborah Retief Memorial.

She was later transferred to Princess Marina hospital where she is currently recuperating. Tladi's request for bail, so that he could return home to assist with the burial of the child he lashed to death.

His next court appearance was set for February 1.
