ZSE chief suspended

The Zimbabwe Stock Exchange (ZSE) chief executive officer Emmanuel Munyukwi has been suspended amid reports that the move was linked to his fallout with stockbrokers last year.

Impeccable sources said ZSE board chairperson Eve Gadzikwa on Thursday wrote to Munyukwi advising him of the suspension.

Munyukwi's suspension comes barely a month after his mentor, Anthony Barfoot, was also relieved of his duties as a consultant of the exchange.

Barfoot, who previously worked with Munyukwi at Art Corporation, preceded the incumbent ZSE boss.

Sources at the exchange said ZSE operations executive Martin Matanda was now acting as CEO.

Gadzikwa confirmed the development saying the board would issue a statement on today.

A source confirmed the suspension which he said could have come as a surprise for Munyukwi who was off duty during this past week.

"The board is now looking into his conduct and indications are that he could be relieved of his duties," said a source close to the developments.
