South Africa's deputy minister of Trade and Industry, Elizabeth Thabethe, will lead a business delegation to Zimbabwe at the end of March, the department said.

The delegation of about 45 South African business people are going on an Investment and Trade Initiative tour (ITI) to Harare and Bulawayo, departmental spokesman Sidwell Medupe said in a statement.

The ITI tour forms part of the department's export and investment promotion strategy that focuses on targeted high growth markets.

"The South African government is committed to the development and recovery of Zimbabwe and we are confident that the trip will go a long way in enhancing economic co-operation," Thabethe said.

"South Africa's economy is inextricably linked to Zimbabwe's economy," she said.

Thabethe said trade between the two countries stood at R20 billion in 2011.

The delegation comprises companies in the infrastructure, manufacturing and agriculture sectors.
