RENOWNED actor, theatre guru and playwright, Walter Muparutsa died on Thursday night after a long illness.
Mparutsa (72) died from complications during a blood transfusion process. He was suffering from a cancer ailment.
Actress Rutendo Chigudu was fast to take to Facebook posting on the Culture Fund wall that: "I've received confirmation that it is indeed the sad and heartbreaking truth."
The theatre guru at one time produced a play that depicted him as a cancer patient and ironically it is the same disease which has led to his death.
Muparutsa had been battling Non Hodgkin’s cancer since 2008.
He said he had undergone chemotherapy at the same time as the late musician, Tongai Moyo who also succumbed to the disease.
Muparutsa had a colourful career acting in feature films Yellow Card in 2000, Everyone's Child (1996), Peak Practice, Cry Freedom (1987) and Play Warriors in 2011.
