A beef over singer Rihanna sparked a bloody, bottle-throwing melee between her ex-boyfriends Chris Brown and Drake in a Manhattan nightclub on Thursday morning around 4am, inside crowded Club W.I.P. in SoHo, the NY Daily reported.

Chris Brown reportedly took a bottle and a punch to his face from Drake near the end of the birthday celebration for Javon Smith, manager of singer/songwriter Ne-Yo.

The violence started with a gesture of good will, as the often-volatile Brown sent a bottle of champagne to hip-hop star Drake's table, police sources said.

The rapper had the bubbly returned to Brown with a note reading, "I'm still f------ Rihanna" - and all hell broke loose, the sources said.

Drake's 15-member entourage - a dozen pals and three security officers - peeled off their shirts as the fighting kicked into gear, a witness told police.

Bottles and ice flew through the air as the crowd ducked and ran for cover.

Brown's burly bodyguard suffered a bloody gash across his forehead, while an Australian tourist took 16 stitches in her head.
