Christian youths kill 7 Muslims after church bombings

Explosions at several churches in Nigeria's northern Kaduna state killed at least seven people yesterday, prompting furious Christian youths to drag Muslims from cars and kill them in retaliation.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility, but Islamist sect Boko Haram has often attacked churches in Nigeria.

After the blasts, youths blocked the highway south out of Kaduna to the capital, Abuja, dragging Muslims from cars, witnesses said.

"We had to return home when we saw them attacking. I saw many bodies on the ground but I don't know how many were dead or just injured," said Kaduna resident Rafael Gwaza.

Another witness, Haruna Isah, said as many as 20 people might have been killed at the roadblock.
