Nigeria - One of the two brothers arrested in connection with the murder of their brother in FESTAC, Lagos, last Thursday, may have confessed to the crime. Omotola Ajayi was said to have admitted yesterday that he killed his younger brother, Akinbuyi Ajayi because the devil told him to do so.

A policeman attached to FESTAC station, who did not want to be named, said that Omotola allegedly confessed that he killed Akinbuyi. The cop said that Omotola claimed he did not kill his brother consciously. The suspect alleged that the evil spirit led him as he lost control of his scenses. He alleged the bad spirit used him to kill his brother, but said he is now regretting his action.

At 3.45 pm yesterday when policemen were about to transfer Omotola and his immediate younger brother, who is also a suspect, Toye, to the Homicide Unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba, Lagos, said that he knew he killed him unconsciously. Omotola and Toye packed some of the exhibits (human parts) recovered from their rooms by the police into the patrol vehicle.

The items included Akinsuyi’s skull, two human dummies (one male and one female), a large bag, three generating sets, charms and amulets, which they transferred into a waiting patrol vehicle. Some of the charms, amulets, pot allegedly containing human blood, among others, were left behind as the policemen took the other items along to the SCID.

Recall that last Thursday evening, policemen attached to FESTAC station led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Mr. Mohammed Mu’azu, a Chief Superintendent, arrested Omotola and Toye inside their abode at B Close, House 6 of 3rd Avenue, FESTAC Town.

Their father, a late retired Controller of Immigration, was the owner of the twin duplex. Their mother was alleged to have disappeared mysteriously some years ago. Omotola claimed to be an engineer, but he is not practising, while Toye who also claimed to be a teacher, did not disclose the school where he teaches. Daily Sun gathered that the Lagos State Police Command has assured that the case would be charged to court after thorough investigation.
