Mr Mqabuko Dube is being accused of going to work drunk and it is alleged that on Friday last week he soiled himself while addressing pupils during the afternoon assembly resulting in a senior teacher taking him to his office.
Teachers who spoke on condition of anonymity said Mr Dube was a disgrace and there was a need for urgent action to be taken against him to stop his unacceptable conduct.
"He is disrespecting us as teachers and the community. We are tired of his behaviour as he sometimes disturbs lessons by calling for unreasonable meetings.
"Education officers know very well that he is always drunk and we once told them that he has a tendency of coming to school drunk. He rarely comes to school sober," said a source.
Mr James Ndlovu, the headman of nearby Phumelela Village, said they would promptly take corrective measures because the situation was getting out of hand.
"We once warned him about his conduct. The school pass rate will go down because teachers are no longer given enough advice as there is no strong leader. Pupils come home complaining. We struggle to pay school fees and our children are not doing well because he is not attending lessons. We as parents want them to pass and go to universities," said Mr Ndlovu.
The school development committee (SDC) member, Mr Thabani Moyo, said they were going to call for a parents’ meeting to deliberate on the issue.
"We will have a meeting with parents to decide on the way forward, as things stand, we will fire him.
"Sesikhathele ngo Dube. This is an insult to the school. We want a better headmaster who will maintain the reputation that the school has managed to attain through its achievements," said Mr Moyo.
Contacted for comment, Mr Dube admitted that he drinks but denied that he soiled himself at assembly.
"I drink alcohol but I have never soiled myself. The school is running smoothly and my teachers are performing very well," said Mr Dube.
The provincial education officer (PED) for Matabeleland South, Mrs Tumisang Thabela, said she was not aware of the incident.
"I have not received any information. I will have to check with the district education officer," she said.
