One of Robert Mugabe's suspected secret agents in the UK was arrested on the 22nd July 2012 at Gatwick airport while he was trying to board a plane to Zimbabwe. The agent only identified as MM was stopped from travelling and had his ID card and passport confiscated by the British police. The police took his laptop and a number of documents which were in his possession.
Sources from the airport said MM was due to board flight EK010 FROM London Gtwick airport to Zimbabwe via Dubai.
He was arrested and detained by the UK Sussex police who refused to comment because of data protection. Information gathered indicated that he had information about the investigations of the President of Zimbabwe.
Sources close to this publication claim that there are investigations going on against President Robert Mugabe with the aim of prosecuting him for the crimes he committed during his rule as the president of Zimbabwe.
Analysts have indicated that even the draft constitution has a section which removes the immunity against Mugabe. This means it will be easy for the ICC to arrest and prosecute him when he is no longer in power.
There are also reports that Western countries are offering immunity to President Mugabe's allies if they stop supporting him in the coming elections and this has caused great divisions in Zanu-PF. Zanu-PF has since been thrown into serious divisions with those willing to safeguard their wealth mulling on ditching Mugabe.
It has been reported that divisions within Zanu-PF are now so visible than ever. Most of it caused by the promises of immunity to those who pledge to ditch the old man and cooperate in the investigations.
Sources say the investigations have already kicked off in the UK with the war crimes unity interviewing the former CIO Phillip Machemedze. Information about the nature of the interview and where it was done has been kept under a heavy lid.
