'Top Gun' director kills himself

Famed British film director Tony Scott jumped from a Los Angeles bridge to his death on Sunday, local media outlets reported. He was 68.
Scott, who was famous for filming a number of blockbuster hits including Tom Cruise 's 1986 vehicle "Top Gun" and 1990 racing film "Days of Thunder," leaped from the Vincent Thomas Bridge spanning San Pedro and Terminal Island at around 12:35 local time, according to a report filed by Daily Breeze. Authorities recovered his body several hours later.
A note containing his contact information was found inside his black Toyota Prius which was parked on the bridge, and a suicide note was later found at his office. His body has been turned over to the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office and authorities are looking at the case as a suicide.
Scott, who was the younger brother of fellow film director Ridley Scott,paired with Cruise in 1986 to make "Top Gun," a film which grossed 354 million dollars in ticket sales as one of the highest-grossing hits in Hollywood. He then worked on "Days of Thunder," also with Cruise four years later.
He also worked with Eddie Murphy on "Beverly Hills Cop II," and Denzel Washington and John Travolta on 2009 thriller "The Taking of Pelham 123." Tony Scott
