He was speaking at the 60th joint birthday and graduation ceremony for Mines and Mining Development Minister Dr Obert Mpofu in Nyamandlovu yesterday.
Acting President Nkomo said Zimbabweans should remain united to sustain the legacy of the late nationalist Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo.
He said it was disheartening to note that there were some people fomenting disunity using the late Vice President's name.
"Today we have people who want to use the late Joshua Nkomo's name to spark tribal decisions. I want to tell all Zimbabweans that there is no going back on the Unity Accord that we signed," said the Acting President.
"If there are any amongst us who want to take back this accord they should be castigated unreservedly."
Acting President Nkomo said Zimbabweans should shun tribalism and regionalism.
"We are celebrating Minister Mpofu's PhD today, but our PhDs must start developing a new direction for Zimbabwe. We must pride ourselves as living as Shonas, Ndebeles or Kalangas."
Acting President Nkomo applauded Minister Mpofu for his sterling efforts in spearheading Zimbabwe's bid to acquire the Kimberley Process certification to sell diamonds.
In his address at the occasion, Minister Mpofu said his ministry would remain focused in ensuring that all the country's minerals were fully exploited for the benefit of the economy.
"Our motto for the ministry is that we should remain focused in fully exploiting the precious minerals which Zimbabwe is endowed with," he said.
Defence Minister Emmerson Mnangagwa, Youth Development, Indigenisation and Empowerment Minister Saviour Kasukuwere, Minister of Small and Medium Enterprises Sithembiso Nyoni were some of the dignitaries who attended the event.
