BCC to cut water supplies to Government departments this week

Bulawayo City Council is this week set to disconnect water supplies to all government departments that owe them money, mayor Thaba Moyo has said.

Government departments owe financial crippled local authority close to $32 million.

"Water disconnecting exercise is now moving to government departments. The underlying issue is that no one is special and expect to be given preferentual treatment even the government departments must be in a position to pay" said Moyo.

Moyo said BCC has explored all avenue to recover the money but all efforts have failed.

He said it was "embarrassing and unfair that the very government that takes a lead when it comes to blaming us for poor sercive delivery" when they owe us huge amounts.

The move would set them against government.
