More housing stands for Magwegwe

Bulawayo City Council is set to service 546 low-income residential stands in Magwegwe North high-density suburb in a bid to reduce its housing backlog, which now stands at 95 000 people.

According to the latest council report, beneficiaries would be required to immediately pay 35% of the value of the stands and the balance over an agreed period.

The local authority said servicing of the stands would start as soon as the funds were available, that is after the buyers had paid their deposit.

During the past 24 months, about 2000 plus applications and enquiries for the stands within the medium and low-density areas had been received from the public and there had been developers in the Diaspora.

So far, the scheme has benefited residents in Pumula South, Emganwini, Mahatshula and Emhlangeni suburbs.
