He was 90.
Mr Pocock passed away last week on Wednesday in Durban, South Africa, and is going to be buried there on a date yet to be announced.
The cause of death could not be ascertained.
Mr Pocock was the founder of the Bulawayo estate agency bearing his name, John Pocock and Company, which deals in real estate and manages industrial, commercial and residential properties.
An official at the company confirmed that Mr Pocock had died but refused to give more details.
He said Mr Pocock had retired from running the company although it retained his name.
"Mr Pocock retired long back but the company is still registered in his name. I am sorry there is nothing more I can tell you as we are also waiting for details from his wife who is in South Africa," he said.
The official said Mr Pocock was a humble man loved by many in the city and his death had robbed the business sector of a man who had dedicated his life to offering people affordable properties.
