Maternity fees to be scrapped

Maternity fees charged at government hospitals are set to be scrapped before year-end. The move is expected to bring down the country's maternal mortality rate which is among the highest in the region.
Ministry of Health statistics show that maternal deaths rate is 790 per 100 000 births, while the Zimbabwe Demographic and Health Survey places it at 960 per 100 000.
