Hooker turns down marriage

A MAN from Hopley Farm was left with a broken heart and ego after being rejected in court by a self-confessed prostitute he intended to marry.

The woman said she preferred hitting the night clubs for a living than staying with a possessive man.

Estell Mutimba told the court that she was indeed a lady of the night.

She had brought one of her "clients" Clive Bimba to the Harare Magistrate Court for hindering her efforts to get other men.

"I met this man in a bar. He came to my place after hiring me for my services and he moved in.

"I was scared to tell him that I was no longer interested in him because of his violence and possessiveness.

"He was also addressing me as his wife.

"Your worship, allow me to tell this man that I want him out of my house because I want to look for other men," she said.

Mutimba said although Bimba paid rent, it was for services rendered.

"I would frequent beerhalls before I met him because I was looking for money.

"But I stopped when he moved in and I was getting the money from him.

"Now I want to continue doing my trade and he should give me back my freedom and move out," she said.

In response, Bimba, who appeared heartbroken, did not accept being rejected.

"It is true we met in a bar and I paid her US$10 for that night but I lured her to becoming my wife.

"I have already shown her to all my relatives and I am planning to marry her in December.

"I am sure she is just being clever and does not mean it," he said.

Magistrate Mr Milton Serima ordered Bimba to observe peace towards Mutimba.
