Zanu-PF re-admits two renegades

The Zanu-PF Politburo meeting held at the Zanu-PF headquarters in Harare this Wednesday afternoon has re-admitted two members; Daniel shumba and Godwills Shiri, into the party.

Shumba, who is the former Zanu-PF Provincial Chairman for Masvingo, was implicated in the so-called Tsholothso fiasco of 2004.

He went on to form his own party, the United People's Party whose members he said will join Zanu PF following his readmission.

The second member re-admitted, Godwill Shiri violated the rules of his party Zanu-PF by contesting as an independent candidate in the 2005 elections in Mberengwa East Constituency.

According to the Zanu-PF constitution, any member who stands as an independent automatically expels themselves.

Pertaining to status on re-admission, one becomes an ordinary party card-carrying member and starts working his way up from the lowest ranks.

In the past, some members expelled from the party were suspended from holding positions for 5 years but it appears there has been a deviation from that norm in recent years.
