Step-mom has daughter raped for 250 g packet of kapenta

In a case that has shocked the local community, a Mberengwa woman allegedly arranged for her 16-year-old step-daughter to be raped while she received a 250g packet of kapenta in return.

The woman (name withheld to protect the victim) and Innocent Zhou (48), who allegedly raped the girl, were last week arraigned before magistrate Mr Christopher Maturure facing a rape charge.
The two were remanded in custody to this Tuesday.

Mr Maturure advised them to apply for bail at the High Court.

Prosecutor Ms Sarah Matonga said some time last month, the woman allegedly asked Zhou for some money or food.

She is alleged to have told him that he could in turn "do whatever he pleased" with her step-daughter.

The court heard that Zhou did not have any money and instead offered a 250g packet of kapenta.
The woman then allegedly ordered the teenager to comply with Zhou's demands.

She also provided the room in which the girl was raped, the court heard.

The matter only came to light after the 16-year-old told a friend.
