Man caught raping daughter (13)

A shepherd feeds on his flock! A Vumbachikwe man in Gwanda lived true to the adage and brewed trouble for himself when he quenched his sexual desire by allegedly forcing himself on his 13-year-old daughter.

The widower stunned villagers when he reportedly took his daughter to fill the bedroom gap left by his wife who passed on in April this year. The father, instead of him protecting his child from the prying eyes, turned villain.

Circumstances as narrated by the source close to the sexual abuse are that last Saturday evening, neighbours heard the girl whom they thought was alone screaming in agony which prompted them to inquire what was happening. Neighbours reportedly went to the bedroom where the noise was emanating from, only to find the man quenching his sexual hunger on his 13-year-old daughter.

The victim told neighbours who rescued her that her father had abused her before. They reported the matter to the police leading to the arrest of the man. The girl was referred to Gwanda hospital for medical examination.

"I am pained by what happened to my niece. When I got the news I was terrified and swore that I will let this newspaper know about this matter. This is disgusting. How can a father rape his own daughter? He has destroyed her future. If the desire for sex was overpowering him then he should have resorted to prostitutes. In fact, there are many commercial sex workers in the compound, he should rot in prison. That is where he belongs," said the visibly shaken source.

Matabeleland South acting police spokesperson Seargent Loveness Mangena confirmed the incident.

"We are investigating a case of a Vumbachikwe man who allegedly raped his daughter," said Sgnt Mangena.
