PASTOR Ndaniso Moyo Mdende, who is also a musician of the Praise and Worship Centre, has been dragged to the Maintenance Court for failing to take care of his two minor children.

His one-time wedded wife, Ms Jennifer Nyirenda, whose residential address is given as Killarney  Squatter Camp, dragged the man of the cloth to court demanding $100 towards the upkeep of their two minor children aged eight and 11.

However, Pastor Mdende, formerly with G.A.M.E Church, told the court that he was willing to contribute $50 per month for the two minor children.

He said he was willing to increase the amount in the future.

Pastor Mdende told the court that he had since changed the church because they were not paying  him and the church was even failing to pay $80 towards his rent.

Pastor Mdende said he had not been paid yet since he has been with the new church for only three weeks.

"Of course I am a musician, but I just recently released an album. My wife has left the country for South Africa to try and earn a living. I am presently staying at the bishop's house," he told the court.

Ms Nyirenda had told the court that Pastor  Mdende earns $400 per month and that he was in a position to give her the money she was asking for.

Ms Nyirenda said she is a tailor realising about $40 per month.

Bulawayo provincial magistrate Mrs Learnmore Mapiye ordered Pastor Mdende to contribute monthly maintenance of $80 per month with effect from this month for the two minor children until they turn 18.
