Line of sight is a military terminology which means you are able to see the target without anything obscuring your vision.
As Christians, we need a line of sight with Jesus at all times. We never know how important this is until we run into obstacles, trials and tribulations.
It may be different issues that may come up in your life, family problems, work, marital, financial, you name it.
You see, it is easy to see God when things are going so well in our lives and we can feel his presence when all things are right, but when things are bad and everything is just going wrong, it feels the world is against you and it is not so easy to know that God is there.
This is how God works. He is there, but do you have a clear line of sight? Can you truly see His presence in your life? Can you truly feel His love for you? Can you really apply His word to your life?
We are living in the end times and the enemy is out to destroy and defame the name of Christ in our world. This is fast becoming an epidemic in the body of Christ because the great falling away has begun.
It is not just people deciding to stop walking with Christ, but also those that are walking with him giving in to their carnal desires and wrecking their witness to the world.
Of course we are all tempted and at times we may fall, but the key is to keep our eyes on Jesus so that we stay afloat in those times and not sink.
Just like Peter, getting a vision of the winds, waves, and the fact that what he was trying to do was impossible, his eyes were fixed on Jesus and he knew he could do it.
But once he stopped looking ahead and started focusing on the waves, he began to sink. But even in that, thank God that Christ was still there to keep him from drowning.
This is where we must keep our faith, people of God.
Matthew 14:29 - And He said, "Come!" And Peter got out of the boat, and walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But seeing the wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, "Lord, save me!" Immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and took hold of him, and said to him, "You of little faith, why did you doubt?"
We need to always keep Jesus where we can see Him - He is a wonderful all-faithful God.
Do not be distracted by the cares of this world, the devil uses the world's worries to distract you from Christ.
If you keep worrying about all the troubles in your life, you will lose your line of sight.
Most of us cry at the end of the month because we can't meet our bills . . . yet most of the times we fail to realise that we put ourselves in those situations.
We tend to want a life that we can't afford and we claim to be living by faith, and that God will provide.
We want to live a flamboyant life that will obviously lead us to temptations and troubles at the end of the day and cry that God is not reachable!
God is not a fool, God gives people what they need, and instead of us being faithful to that promise, we tend to live by foolishness.
One thing I have learned, in all my years of ministry and being saved, is that it is good to be in the will of God.
I remember a song that used to say, "The safest place, in the whole wide world, is in the will of God!"
That song couldn't be truer! There is safety in God's will and there is grace and mercy there as well.
You see, we are human beings, trying to live the lifestyle of a superior being (Christ) in a time when sin is abounding. That is not the easiest thing to do at times.
There are so many obstacles and temptations in the world today. Many are aimed at God's servants and they are designed to bring you down to a place where hearing and trusting God is hard.
We need to keep away from people who distract us, people who are always telling us that we are not good enough.
Many of us have emotional attachments to people who tend to control us. We need to keep away from such people.
We need to break such soul ties and keep our eyes on Jesus, for he is the only one who can guarantee us happiness and a trouble-free life.
We need to keep away from all things and people in our lives that keep our eyes away from Jesus Christ.
We need to keep God as our number one. Our God is a jealous God. His first commandment confirms this: "You shall not have any other gods before me".
If God is the number one in your life, you will have a clear line of sight, because everything you do, God will be your guide.
Other gods in this life are things like our cars, jobs, spouses, houses, friends and even the music we now listen to. If there is another god in your way, it obscures your line of sight and you will fail to see God clearly.
Most of us have taken comfort in these other gods, gods we don't even know, forgetting the true God who created us.
We don't even give Him the time of day, putting these other gods first, but when troubles come our way, we look for the true God.
Sure the waves may get high and the trouble may surround us, but as long as Christ is there, we will not drown!
This brings me back to what I was saying earlier. It is good to keep your eyes on Christ and not have to look for Him in times of trouble and turmoil.
It's good to keep God first, instead of having to search for Him among all of the things we invite in his place.
My friends, God is there, but in a lot of cases, we have so many things in His way. We cannot get a good read from Him, so we make mistakes, bad choices, bad decisions, etc.
Based on feeling rather than on what God desires and with things obscuring our view of Him, it's easy to make the wrong move.
We have all been there, done that, but now it's time to move forward and keep God first.
I'm not repeating a cliché that church folks use just to be saying it, but I really mean it! Keep a clear path to God by keeping those things that are against Him out of the way.
Sure, He loves us so, that he promised to never leave us, but without a true line of sight, how can we even know what He desires for our lives?
Stay Blessed.
