The newly formed Musclemania Zimbabwe is offering huge prizes including cars in the 2012 Musclemania Zimbabwe bodybuilding competition set for Harare on August 4.
This has been revealed by Musclemania Zimbabwe organising secretary Tofara Moyo who says a competition of this magnitude should have huge incentives in order to attract the best bodybuilders from Africa.
Musclemania Zimbabwe is affiliated to Musclemania Africa and Moyo revealed that they have sent invitations to all countries affiliated to the continental body and the response has been overwhelming.
"We are offering very attractive prizes including cars and cash for the winners of the competition. The response from bodybuilders from the other countries has been overwhelming," said Moyo.
Last year, the winner of the Mr Ironman competition Vincent Kandiero went away driving a Toyota-Fun-cargo while the women’s section winner Christine Matange got a stand in a middle density suburb in Harare.
Moyo said they want to improve on that adding that Kandiero and Matange will take part inthe competition in addition to other Zimbabwe’s top bodybuilders like Isaac Chimuchenga and Eddie Marondera.
All in all, said Moyo, they are expecting more than 40 bodybuilders drawn from all the four corners of Africa.
Although not as popular as other sports like football and cricket in Zimbabwe, bodybuilding enjoys a lot of support from the corporate world, though Moyo, still feels they need more as their intention is to take the sport to all areas in Zimbabwe.
The Zimbabwe Bodybuilding Association is affiliated to the Sport and Recreation Commission, the sport governing body in the country.
