Asiagate disciplinary committee findings out next week

The Zimbabwe Football Association has revealed that findings of the disciplinary ad hoc committee tasked with bringing finality to the Asiagate scandal will be made known before the end of this month.

The net is closing in on those who committed transgressions that transformed the national team into a disgraceful laughing stock in what has become infamously known as the Asiagate Scandal, ZIFA said.

ZIFA President, Cuthbert Dube said the ad hoc committee that is carrying out the investigations on those implicated in the scandal is working around the clock in an endeavor to bring closure to the biggest scam ever to hit Zimbabwean football.

Dube said: "We want to make sure that we come up with the right judgment. The whole country and those implicated are anxious to know the outcome.

"By the end of this month the committee should make their findings public and those found on the wrong side will reap what they sowed, while those who are found innocent will continue with their football life."

The Asiagate scandal arose from unsanctioned trips by the Warriors to Asia, where results of matches were determined by bookmakers between 2007 and 2010.

In a bid to bring the culprits implicated in the scandal to book, ZIFA suspended over 80 players and set up a disciplinary Ad Hoc committee led by Justice Ahmed Ibrahim to look into the matter.

Dube also said they've also made in-roads into the Centralgate scandal, which rocked the Central Region Division One league last year.
