The ruling Zanu PF Chapter in the United Kingdom has advised the citizens and the political leaders to move away from the hard power to soft power where leaders are accessible to the people and takes advice from the.

Through its Facebook page the chapter said in the modern times governments and institutions are encouraged to use Soft Power rather than Hard Power in the first instance.

"In fact there is even a suggestion that the best outcomes are achieved by a combination of Soft and Smart Power and that we should banish Hard Power. Hard power is about coercion, force and even violence. It is old fashioned and used to force the subject recognise a superior authority," said the chapter.

"Soft Power is the use of persuasion, political seduction, charm and myth to influence people or the other part. There is no need for overwhelming numbers to do that. There is just a need for inspirational capacity to methodically bring about a positive change."

The chapter said smart power is something in between Hard and Soft.

"It is the projection of influence so purchasing both social and political Legitimacy. It is about spreading alliances and partnerships to extend influence. Zimbabwe needs to move away from hard power in dealing with the citizens' grouse," said Zanu PF UK.

"The readiness to use hard power only breeds resentment and socially delegitimatises a constitutional government. There are a lot things institutions can do, but they shouldn't just do it because they can. Even the Bible says that, "everything permissible but not everything is beneficial". Let's think smart and act smart."

The remarks come at the time when the ruling party through its secretary for administration Ignatius Chombo has repeatedly made several threatens to any one who dare challenge the government through strikes and deministration.
