Have a dose of motivation with the Motivator : The Triple-Filter Test

In ancient Greece, Socrates the philosopher, was famous for his wisdom and knowledge. One day someone met this great philosopher and said to him, "Do you know what I heard about your friend?"

"Hold on a minute," Socrates replied. "Before you talk to me about my friend, it might be a good idea to take a moment and filter what you're going to tell me. I call it The Triple-Filter Test.  The first filter is the TRUTH. Have you made absolutely sure that what you are about to tell me is true?"

"Well, no…" said the man. "actually I just heard that….."

"All right" said Socrates. "So you don't really know if it's true or not. Now, let's try the second filter, the filter of GOODNESS. Is what you are going to tell me about my friend good?"

"Umm, no, on the contrary…"

Socrates said, "So you want to tell me something bad about my friend, that something you want to tell me is not GOOD and  you're not sure that it's TRUE. You may still pass the third filter though, because there is one filter left….the filter of USEFULNESS. Is what you want to tell me USEFULL?"

"No, not really." Said the man.

"Well," concluded Socrates, "If what you want to tell me is neither true, good nor even useful, why tell it to me at all.

Next time someone tells you something, do The Triple-Filter Test.

And let nothing come out of thine mouth unless is profitable. Stay blessed
