Over a thousand members drawn from Chiredzi rural and urban districts operating micro, small to medium enterprises are complementing government efforts to attain upper-middle income economic status by the year 2030, with bulky businesses owned by empowered youths, elderly and other less priviledged beneficiaries.
The Chiredzi District Chamber of Small to Medium Enterprises has also recorded a surge in trade, investments and skills development amongst its three respective centres (Centres 1,2 and 3).
Speaking during an interview with the Bulawayo24News crew this Friday, Chiredzi District Chamber of SMEs organising secretary, Mr Solomon Ndarova has applauded unity amongst stakeholders in formalising business units for accountability, transparency and proper revenue collection.
"As Chiredzi District Chamber of SMEs, we are targeting to leave no one and no place behind especially the wake of President Emmerson Mnangagwa's Vision 2030 of a transitioned economic status into an upper-middle income level," Ndarova said.
"Several youths, elderly, less priviledged and vulnerable members of communities have benefited from various government initiatives for empowering everyone through inclusivity. Our target is that, the development of businesses follow a gradual transition from micro business level into small; and from small into medium levels of growth," Ndarova added.
"Several youths with skills have been leading by example and their businesses are thriving well. We are targeting that everyone should have a workspace and contribute towards the national economic development trajectory," Ndarova said.
"Of all the SMEs beneficiaries, all of them are not defaulting in paying rates and utilities. This is a great achievement made by the Second Republic in making sure that those previously perceived to be informal get formalised and licenced into legally trading or registered for accountability and proper revenue collection," Ndarova added.
"As Chiredzi District Chamber of SMEs, are partnering with both urban and rural councils in making sure that everyone registers their businesses so that they may be able to access loans for establishing viable businesses after securing workspaces. Zimbabwe Revenue Authority will therefore find it easier for taxing those businesses, hence the country would attain an upper-middle income economy by the year 2030 through this creation of an enabling environment or ease of doing business," Ndarova said.
Minister of State for Masvingo Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Ezra Chadzamira has on several occasions commented how the province works tirelessly for the country to contribute towards Vision 2030.
"With all the projects and investments which the Second Republic has embarked on, throughout Masvingo Province, this would enable the country to fully attain Vision 2030. We are working tirelessly to make sure that the President's vision is realised by all," Chadzamira said then.
"With the initiatives, we have created employment, upscaling skills, trade and tourism within the province since it habours various heritage sites and some natural reserves," Chadzamira added.
Chiredzi District Chamber of SMEs boasts three centres with diverse registered businesses operating in those various sites paying taxes.
The small businesses in Chiredzi are now accommodated in the SME centre in Chiredzi town, the centre of the Lowveld economy and majority of beneficiaries are small and medium enterprises run by women, elderly, youths and differently able-bodied people.
This dovetails with Government's empowerment agenda which is in sync with Vision 2030 as they provide employment and boost incomes as the Second Republic forges ahead with the leaving no one and no place behind philosophy.
The majority of the SMEs operating from all centres mainly focus in clothing, fruit and green produce supply, hardware and cosmetics. The centres are also a product of public-private partnership between the SMEs under the banner of SMEs Chamber Chiredzi Chapter and the Chiredzi Town Council.
The chamber mobilised financial requirements (monetary) for the construction while the council provided the land.
