Macheso gives in to pressure

Sungura lovers in Guruve and surrounding areas are excited following revelations that the genre's kingpin, Alick Macheso, will return on stage at Guruve hotel on Friday.
The development comes in the wake of pressure exerted by fans as they called for his return.
Macheso's popularity ratings used to shoot through the roof at the peak of of the tobacco-selling season in Guruve when the majority of farmers were liquid.
Speaking to Bulawayo24.com through his publicist, Tich Makahamadze, Macheso said he was grateful that his fans were calling for him to return to Guruve hotel.
"Our fans kept on calling us back in Guruve so we said iband revanhu iri, kune vanhu ndokwatinoenda(It is the people's band and we go where our people are) so this Friday we are at Guruve hotel we hope to market our new album Kupa Kuturika well there," Macheso said.
The Madhau hitmaker will be supported by Hosiah Chipanga who will be touring Guruve for the first time.
A staunch Macheso fan, Justice "Electric Doctor" Mujeri hailed Macheso for breaking his tradition of coming to Guruve once a year.
"We are very excited that the king of Sungura has finally broke his tradition of coming once a year here in Guruve we are going to pack Guruve hotel to capacity in honour of his gesture," said the Electric Doctor.
Guruve hotel proprietor Monica "Mai Mabhena" Chikanda said the hotel was ready to host Macheso and Chipanga.
"This is a very big gig because we are hosting two giants hence all is set for the gig people should come in numbers and enjoy at Guruve hotel," she said.
