Don't blame Mnangagwa for Mugabe's failures - George Charamba

President Emmerson Mnangagwa's spokesperson George Charamba has said it is funny that some Zimbabweans want to blame his boss for all the country's economic problems when most of them have root in former President Robert Mugabe's reign.

Many Zimbabweans feel Mnangagwa has taken the country on a downward spiral since taking over from his former mento Mugabe after a military coup in 2017.

Charamba said it was crazy logic to blame for the challenges that started before his time.

"is it not funny? All the economic challenges we face, all of them pre-dating ED (as Mnangagwa is commonly referred) presidency are blamed on him, all projects started and stalled before ED's presidency, and then completed through his effort or encouragement belong to his predecessor? Crazy logic at work," protested Charamba.

In a counter argument, academic Rashweat Mukundu said instead of wailing, the government should commit to change.

"Sometimes affirmation of positive change does not need promotion nor defense. It speaks for itself and silences critics. When positive change has to be promoted and defended this vigorously then something is wrong. Let's see real change. Commit to change and change is not comfortable," he said.
