BCC closes roads to under take sewer rehabilitation

BULAWAYO Water and Sewerage Services Improvement Projects (BWSSIP) declared road closure on Thursday in some parts of the city to avoid disturbance as sewerage works commence are likely to take the whole month.

According to a statement from BCC, Town clerk Christopher Dube said the insertion will cover parts of the streets which might interrupt road networks in the stipulated areas.

"The City of Bulawayo would like to advise the motoring public that they will be carrying out installation of Sewer Outfalls across the Mqamulazwe, Sakhile and Guqula as part of the ongoing Outfalls Rehabilitation-SAST Catchment Contract works under the BWSSIP," statement read.

"The works will commence on Monday 29th of June 2020 for approximately 30days."

Dube said they will try by all means to put signs were necessary for motorists to avoid mishaps.

"To ensure the safety of both the motoring public and workforce whilst carrying out the works, lane closure traffic management plan will be in place and signs of alternative routes," statement read.

According to the statement residents are warned that works carried out are likely to cause disarray here and there but the public is ensured that frantic efforts will be made to avoid such inconveniences.

"Every effort has been made to ensure disruption to traffic, businesses and residents is kept to a minimum. However, these works will inevitably cause disruption, and for this BCC wishes to apologies in advance," statement read.
