Zanu-PF to amend constitution

The Zanu-PF Politburo has resolved to amend the party's constitution to reinstate District Coordinating Committees (DCC) and establish a war veterans wing.

The 333rd Ordinary Session of the Zanu PF Politburo held at the party headquarters in Harare this Wednesday made two critical resolutions; the reintroduction of DCCs and the establishment of the War veterans wing.

Addressing the media after the meeting, Zanu PF Secretary for Information and Publicity, Ambassador Simon Khaya Moyo said the resolutions now await ratification by the Central Committee.

Ambassador Moyo also highlighted calls by the party's First Secretary, President Emmerson Mnangagwa for party members to embrace the culture of servant leadership and shun associating with fired G40 members.

"His Excellency encouraged PB members to embrace the culture of the New dispensation that of servant leadership. No room for armchair leaders. He also warned members against hobnobbing with G40," he said.

On the creation of the Ministry of National Housing and Social Amenities, Ambassador Moyo clarified the President and government's position.

"President reminded PB that in our 2018 elections manifesto, we promised houses hence the creation of the Ministry of National Housing and Social Amenities," he said.

The Politburo also deliberated on the preparations for the party's 18th National People's Conference set for Goromonzi, developmental projects being implemented by government and by-election victories.

Meanwhile, it has been announced that Harare Minister of State for Provincial Affairs, Oliver Chidhawu will chair the Harare provincial inter-district meetings, while Bulawayo District Coordinating Committee structures will be set-up this weekend.

Meanwhile, the Bulawayo DCC elections will be held this weekend while accreditation for the ZANU PF National People's Conference is set for the 24th and 25th of this month.
