PLUMTREE Council is failing to implement its 2020 budget after government's delays to approve it amid its notice to residents that they must pay their rates using 2019 rates.

Plumtree Town Secretary Davis Dumezweni Luthe in a notice dated January 31, said the 2020 rates were supposed to be effected in January but failed since government have not approved their budget.

He however advised residents to pay their rates using the 2019 rates.

He said they are still waiting for government approval.

"Plumtree Town Council is still waiting for the approval of the budget by the Ministry of Local Government, Public Works and National Housing," notice read.

Plumtree Town council last year proposed to increase tariffs by 900% in 2020.
