Gokwe-Nembudziya Member of Parliament Justice Wadyajena has come under fire from gender activists who have accused him of using a sexist line of questioning when asking when interviewing the Grain Millers Association of Zimbabwe General Manager during a portfolio Committee meeting on Tuesday.

Activists who spoke to this reporter said the MP was unfair to ask about how the General Manager has promoted a question she did not pose to other male members of the association.

Southern Stars Foundation Gender Officer Gugulethu Nyasha said, " If you looked at how the MP was persistently asking uncomfortable questions to the GMAZ General Manager yesterday you would see that he was insinuating that she was promoted not through the proper means by through prostituting herself. The kind of behavior that he exhibited is unbecoming and insensitive to successful women who toiled through their sweat to achieve their success."

A Botswana delegate Bridget Sebina who had attended the recently held Conference of Sustainable Development Goals held in Victoria Falls said lawmakers must abide to the gender policy of the country.

"I watched the said video where a lady is being questioned about her success and I would want to say that behavior must not be encouraged. I am the Director of the NGO I work for and it would be uncomfortable to hear a man asking me how I got promoted from being a coordinator to be a Director. Surely public officials can do better and I hope female lawmakers will  pursue the matter." Sebina said.
