Zimbabwe Army Commander General Philip Valerio Sibanda is currently in the Republic of Botswana accompanying President Emmerson Mnangagwa on a diplomatic trip.

A picture that has surfaced on the internet shows General Sibanda posing for  a picture with other Zimbabwean dignitaries who include Defense Minister Oppah Muchinguri and dreaded Central Intelligence Organisation Bosses.

Commenting on the image political analyst Kelvin Mazhandu said, "The image that is being portrayed by the picture we are seeing shows that our government is prioritizing defense more than the suffering of our people If a President drags the Minister of Defense and the Army Commander to a diplomatic meeting it means they are going to exchange information of guns and ammunition. Sadly such a development when Africa is talking about silencing the guns in the continent."

Mazhandu added that the trip might also be a sign that Mnangagwa no longer trusts the military bosses.

"On another note, we might be tempted to think that the President is afraid if he leaves the Army Boss behind he might find himself being diplomatically pushed out of power by the army using section 212 of the constitution so he feels safe when the commander is sleeping in the next room in Botswana."
