TWO Mvurwi hungry thieves were convicted by Guruve resident magistrate Shingirai Mutiro of stealing a soft wire and empty crates valued at RTGS$1 900.

Evermore Kambarami (35) and Frank Ndoro (29) pleaded guilty to the charge and were dully convicted before being remanded in custody for sentencing tomorrow.

In mitigation the duo said they committed the offense out of hunger.

"Your worship we admit that we stole the wire and crates but this was due to hunger in this total lockdown we cannot fend for our families," they pleaded.

Prosecutor Albert Charehwa told the court that May 27 at Forester F farm, Mvurwi, the duo hatched a plan to steal from a farmer Laison Chavava.

Chavava traced Kambarami at his homestead and found the stolen crates.

Kambarami implicated his accomplice leading to their arrest.
