Cop up for stock theft

MUZARABANI cop was arraigned before Guruve magistrate Shingirai Mutiro yesterday facing a stock theft charge.

Dominic Blantrye (25) and his three accomplices Obedience Togara (28) Obvious Kunjaira(22) and Simbarashe Gilbert Madziva (30) pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The state led by Albert Charewa alleged on March 25 the Togara,Kunjaira and Madziva proceeded to Mandengu Dengure's cattle pen and stole four bovines which they cleared through Blantrye who is a police officer at St Albert's post.

Blantrye contacted his colleague constable Gumunyu to assist him.

Blantrye abused his office to acquire animal movement permit with serial number 866641 to Harare.

The cattle were loaded and taken to Koala abattoir, Harare  where they were sold at $32 686 and the suspects shared the money.

They were granted $500 bail each and will be back in court on June 16.
