A FORMER Umguza councillor, Mxolisi Ndlovu, has claimed that Zanu-PF officials and a nongovernmental organisation (NGO) are distributing drought relief aid in the district to only supporters of the ruling party.

Ndlovu, who claims to be now a provincial member of the Matabeleland North National Peace and Reconciliation Commission committee, said he had witnessed a potential conflict of interest involving the distribution of food handouts by the social welfare department and an NGO in the area.

"On May 12, I made an inquiry with the social welfare district officer on why they were allowing Zanu-PF members to be in possession of government grant forms with office date stamps to undertake the registration of villagers ahead of the local leadership," the former MDC councillor said.

Umguza district administrator Tapiwa Zivovoyi, however, said he was not aware of the allegations raised by Ndlovu.
