Car thief arrested

A MAN from Entumbane in Bulawayo has appeared in court facing charges of stealing US$9 000, R11 200 and $5 700 from a parked vehicle.

Candy Nyathi (28) was not asked to plead to the charges when he appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Nomasiko Ndlovu.

He was remanded in custody to tomorrow.

The court heard that on January 13 at 9pm, the complainant, Pardon Pakamani (28), parked his car outside a shop in North End before Nyhathi allegedly smashed the rear window of the vehicle and stole various items, including money.

Investigations were carried out and Nyathi was identified through CCTV footage.

Property which was stolen included a laptop bag containing a Lenovo laptop, cash amounting to R11 200, US$9 000, and $3 500, a laptop power pack and two cellphone chargers.

Pakamani made a report to the police, which led to Nyathi's arrest.
