Villagers in Bubi District Matabeleland North have clashed with their legislator Simelisizwe Sibanda after he told them that their contributions towards resolving a furniture crisis at Majiji Primary School where pupils learn sitting on buckets would not be possible without his approval.

The villagers have since started making contributions after learning of the developments. The state of the school was exposed during a virtual discussion in the Bubi Community Parliament when they community members suggested efforts to contribute towards the purchase of benches or chairs for the pupils.

However, Sibanda who is also a member of the Bubi Community Parliament group told the members that the donation would not be successful if the MP is not involved much to the charging of many members.

BCP deputy speaker Nkosilathi Ncube said it was proper for the community members to seek to develop their areas in accordance with President Emmerson Mnangagwa's manthra that the country is built by its people and no one must be left behind. He said it would not be unfair for elected representatives to be the stumbling block of development on political grounds.

Ncube also indicated that the community members were going ahead with the contributions and members have poured quite substantial amounts towards the programme.

Another Member Nhlanhla Ncube urges Sibanda to stop interfering with community initiated development programmes bug instead support them.

Several community members were concerned over the conduct if their MP telling him point blank that such behaviour would decampaign him for the future elections.
