The foreign-based players of Zimbabwe's senior men's national soccer team, the Warriors, declined to join the team's visit to the Zimbabwe embassy in South Africa on Saturday.

While the team, then in camp in Johannesburg, received an invitation from Ambassador David Hamadziripi to visit his residence in Pretoria, only the locally-based players attended the event.

All foreign-based players opted out, citing various reasons for their absence.

According to sources, the team captain conveyed to chairman Lincoln Mutasa that they preferred to rest and prepare for Tuesday's match against South Africa.

Consequently, only six players, led by Godknows Murwira as acting captain, accompanied the Normalisation Committee and coaches to the embassy.

The players argued that it would have been more convenient for the ambassador to visit them in Johannesburg rather than for the players to travel to Pretoria.

Additionally, reports suggest that the ZIFA Normalisation Committee chairperson has threatened to take action against the players who refused to attend the embassy visit.
