3 hrs ago | Views
Bulawayo City Council is still deliberating on a proposal submitted by vehicle parking management company Tendy Tree Investment (TTI) to establish a bitumen plant in the city.
TTI Director Lizwe Mabuza confirmed that the company had submitted the proposal to the local authority, which was discussed and recorded in the council's minutes. However, as of Friday, no official response or approval had been received from the council.
"We put in our proposal with the council, it was discussed... it is on the council minutes," Mabuza said in an interview. "We are still waiting for the council's approval so that we can begin working on the project."
The proposed bitumen plant is expected to create job opportunities for Bulawayo residents and contribute to the improvement of the city's roads, both in the central business district and residential areas. Mabuza, who is involved in various business ventures including real estate, mining, agriculture, and security, emphasized the potential benefits of the project, particularly in enhancing the city's infrastructure.
Mabuza is a prominent businessman with properties in South Africa and other countries. He is also known for his involvement in the security industry, employing over 2,000 security guards under his management.
While the council has yet to approve the proposal, Mabuza expressed his readiness to initiate the project as soon as approval is granted. He believes that the establishment of the bitumen plant would not only improve the city's road network but also provide much-needed employment for local residents.
At the time of reporting, the Bulawayo City Council had not provided a comment or update on the status of the proposal.
