A man from Plumtree is facing legal trouble after he allegedly stole a solar system battery and hid it in his bedroom. The incident, which also involved the theft of an amplifier, came to light when the stolen property was discovered at his home.

Micho Mugande, 28, appeared before Plumtree Magistrate Joshua Nembaware, who granted him $30 bail. The accused is facing charges related to theft following an alleged break-in at the home of Nobetina Dube.

According to Prosecutor Voster Makuwerere, the theft occurred in November when Mugande reportedly gained entry into Dube's house and took a solar battery and an amplifier. The total value of the stolen property was estimated at 4,500 rands.

The case took a turn on December 16 when Dube went to Mugande's residence and discovered her stolen belongings. She promptly filed a police report, leading to Mugande's arrest and the recovery of the stolen property.

The accused is expected to appear in court again for further proceedings, while the stolen items have been returned to Dube.

This case has raised concerns over the rising number of thefts involving solar power systems in the area, a growing source of energy for many households.
