Traditional healer attempts to kill client over $150

A popular traditional healer who operates in  Mozambique and Zimbabwe has been arrested after he attempted to kill one of his clients in an inferno.


Gerald Makina (23) is assisting police with investigations after he set Getrude Kunyepi's (47) house on fire.

Acting Mashonaland Central police spokesperson Sergeant Major Samuel Chikasha confirmed the case.

"I can confirm an attempted murder case in Mt Darwin where a traditional healer attempted to kill his client in an inferno after the client demanded her $150 back after claiming the traditional healer failed to heal her," Chikasha said.

Allegations are that on October 2 Kanyepi approached the traditional healer with a private part problem.

Makuna charged her US$150 to perform traditional healing.

She paid the amount and continued experiencing the same problem.

On November 2 the woman felt duped and demanded her money back.

Two days later the traditional healer went to the complainant's house during the night and set the house on fire while she was sleeping inside.

She managed to escape and filed a police report.

The traditional healer was arrested while trying to skip the border to Mozambique.
