Police hunt for seven armed robbers

Police have launched a manhunt for seven armed robbers involved in two separate attacks on couples in Harare and Bulawayo, resulting in the theft of over US$30,000 in cash and valuables.

The first incident occurred in Kambuzuma, Harare, on November 23, where four robbers armed with a pistol raided a home in Kambuzuma 4. According to National Police Spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the assailants attacked a couple and made off with US$4,870 and two cellphones.

"Police in Harare are investigating a case of robbery which occurred at a house in Kambuzuma 4 on November 23. Four unknown suspects who were armed with a pistol attacked a couple and stole US$4,870 and two cellphones," Commissioner Nyathi said.

In a separate incident in Cowdray Park, Bulawayo, on November 22, three armed robbers also targeted a couple. The gang, armed with a pistol, stole US$25,918, five cellphones, and a wristwatch.

"Police in Bulawayo are also investigating a robbery case that occurred at a house in Cowdray Park on November 22," added Commissioner Nyathi.
Police Investigations Underway

Authorities are pursuing leads to apprehend the perpetrators and have urged the public to come forward with any information that could assist in their investigations.

The recent spate of robberies has heightened concerns about safety in residential areas, with law enforcement warning residents to be vigilant and take precautionary measures to secure their homes and valuables.

Commissioner Nyathi emphasized that the police are committed to bringing the suspects to justice and restoring a sense of security in affected communities.
Public Caution

As the festive season approaches, police have cautioned the public to avoid keeping large sums of cash at home and to report suspicious activities immediately. Residents are also encouraged to enhance security measures, including installing alarm systems and maintaining contact with local neighborhood watch groups.
