Harare City Council issues 3 bins per premise directive

The City of Harare has issued a new directive requiring all buildings and business premises to have a minimum of three bins outside their properties. The directive, which takes effect immediately, was announced by the acting town clerk, Engineer Mabhena Moyo, and is part of the city's efforts to enforce waste management regulations.

In a statement, Eng. Moyo emphasized that failure to comply with this regulation will result in heavy fines and the potential closure of non-compliant buildings.

"This directive is with immediate effect and building owners who do not comply will not only be fined heavily but will have their buildings closed," Moyo said. "This notice is issued under the Harare Statutory Instrument 158/86 anti-litter by-law, and we urge all premises owners to adhere to the new waste management requirements."

The Harare City Council is taking a strong stance to tackle littering and improve cleanliness across the city, warning that it will enforce the law for those who fail to provide proper waste disposal facilities.
