BREAKING: Mnangagwa retires police commissioner

Harare, Zimbabwe - The President of Zimbabwe, His Excellency Dr. Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, has announced the retirement of the Commissioner General of the Zimbabwe Republic Police, Tandabantu Godwin Matanga. The decision, in accordance with Section 340(1)(f) and Section 221(1) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe, was formalized today in a statement issued by the Office of the President and Cabinet.

Commissioner General Matanga's retirement will officially take effect after his service concludes on December 31, 2024. The announcement marks the end of an era for one of Zimbabwe's top law enforcement officials.

The press statement was signed by Dr. M. Rushwaya, the Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, underscoring the constitutional and procedural adherence in this significant leadership change.

Commissioner General Matanga has played a pivotal role in maintaining law and order during his tenure, and his leadership will be remembered as the Zimbabwe Republic Police prepares for a new chapter under future leadership.
