Zhengzhou Bus Zimbabwe denies suspension of operations

Chinese bus manufacturer Zhengzhou Bus Zimbabwe has dismissed falsehoods that it has suspended its operations locally.
The company, which is known for its popular Zhongtong and Yutong brands of coaches dominating Zimbabwe's roads, assured customers and stakeholders that it is still operating as usual.
This week, social media circulated a purported notice claiming that Zhengzhou Bus Zimbabwe was closing its operations effective January 14, 2025.
In a statement, lawyers representing Zhengzhou Bus Zimbabwe, trading as Zhongtong Bus Zimbabwe, addressed the rumors, warning that misinformation peddlers would face legal consequences as an investigation into the matter had been initiated.
"It has come to our attention that there are false claims and statements circulating regarding the operational status of Zhongtong Zimbabwe (Pvt) Limited, and in light of these statements, we wish to officially clarify that these reports are completely unfounded and false.
"Zhongtong Zimbabwe (Pvt) Limited remains fully operational and committed to providing our clients with high-quality services as has always been the case.
"We urge our clients, concerned stakeholders and parties to distance themselves from and not rely on these bogus claims. Our services continue as usual, and the management is here to support with any needs or inquiries that the public may have," reads the official statement.
Founded in 1958, Zhengzhou Bus Zimbabwe is based in Liaocheng, Shandong province, and is listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange. It is one of China's major automobile companies and remains committed to its operations in Zimbabwe.
