Headmaster arrested for corruptly awarding US$155,000 tender

Vuti High School headmaster, Brain Chigudu, has been arrested and appeared in court for allegedly corruptly awarding a tender for the procurement of a 56-seater bus to Quest Motors Corporation.
Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) officers apprehended Chigudu, and on Monday, he appeared before Chinhoyi magistrate Vakayi Douglas Chikwekwe, facing charges of criminal abuse of duty.
The prosecution alleged that Chigudu contravened procurement regulations by directly awarding a US$155,000 tender to Quest Motors Corporation without responding to the tender application advertisement.
Chigudu was granted US$300 bail and remanded to February 3, 2025. His bail conditions include a prohibition on interfering with State witnesses and a ban on visiting Vuti High School until the matter is resolved.
