A 68-year-old man from Mtshede village in Esigodini has found himself in trouble after being accused of stealing two donkeys belonging to his neighbour.
Steven Lusaba appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Beverly Madzikatira on Wednesday, facing charges of stock theft. Lusaba denied the allegations, and the case was remanded to February 5 for further proceedings.
According to the court, Lusaba is accused of stealing two donkeys from Nhlanhla Ndlovu, the complainant, sometime between November 2 and 11, 2023. Ndlovu reported that he was unaware of the whereabouts of his donkeys until he received a tip-off that they were at Lusaba's homestead.
Upon receiving the information, Ndlovu went to Lusaba's residence, where he successfully recovered his donkeys, valued at US$400. Ndlovu then filed a stock theft report with the police, leading to Lusaba's arrest.
Lusaba is set to return to court on February 5 to answer to the charges, and the case is expected to continue in the coming weeks.
