Police have launched a manhunt for a 27-year-old man following the suspected murder of a student teacher at Guinea Fowl School over the weekend.

The victim, identified as Keener Tsanana (21), was discovered dead with a swollen forehead and multiple bruises on her body. Her boyfriend, Valentine Tamuka Zireva, is now being sought by authorities in connection with the case.

National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident in a statement.

"Police in Gweru are investigating a case of murder that occurred at Guinea Fowl School, Gweru, on January 25. A student teacher, Keener Tsanana (21), was found dead with a swollen forehead and bruises all over the body," said Nyathi.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, police have confirmed a fatal house fire in Rujeko, Masvingo, on January 24, which claimed the life of a 14-year-old boy and left two women with severe burns.

According to authorities, the fire started when one of the victims added onions to a pot of hot cooking oil, causing it to ignite and engulf the house in flames.

Investigations into both cases are ongoing.
